May 20th (Stag Weekend)

Postby goosewa » Tue May 17, 2005 8:58 am

First of all this is my first post here. Glad I found this site and had a chance to read up the facelifts a few of the watering holes have received.

Just curious who is making the trip across for Victoria Weekend? We usually rent a place at the Island Club for the weekend. Since were coming over Saturday AM we just decided to sleep on the boat.

Sleeping on the boat is good, especially with the big a$$ one you have there in your avatar. Save the money on the hotel and buy some gas for that sucker!!!

I am hoping to be there that weekend.

Mister Kay,

Sorry the avatar was a bit big... I resized it..

We usually leave Friday Morning but the plan has changed this year. A couple of the guys that are going cannot leave until Saturday so it is a waste of $$$ to get the place all weekend only to stay one night.....

Were leaving @ 7:30 on saturday and should be at the dock by 8:00 am. If you need me i will be in Mr. Ed's, Beer Barrel or the Roundhouse until close and then over to the Skyway. :D

I will be on B Dock starting Friday late morning. Bringing home the new (used) boat from Catawba to Grosse Ile via Put in Bay for the annual Stag Cruise.

MK,

Ever heard the term going "Stag" or in otherwords by yourself leaving your girlfriend or significant other at home......

Maybe it is just a local thing around here (Downriver) but we always referred to the 3rd weekend in May as Stag Weekend.

Sounds better than Victoria Weekend doesn't it?

It is only a 28 minute ride from Grosse Ile to the Bay for us. So we usually make day trips to the bay about every weekend in the summer. (If were not up at Jack's and the Beach Grille on St. Clair once or twice).

IMHO, Stag Weekend is one of the better weekends to party. (Not that there is ever a bad weekend...... )

Unfortunately, this is my last year attending as a Batchelor since I am getting married in August....

There is a small chance I will be there this weekend, but I may.

I didn't put 2+2 together, I realize now what it meant. Thanks.

28 minutes!!!

Going what, 80mph!

It takes us 1.5 to 2 hours from Grosse Isle.

Post or IM me if your up at Jacks or the Beach Grille, as we are there a lot in the summer. I used to work at the Beach Grille when I was in high school, although back then it was Brownies. I miss Brownies, it was much better but the grill is still fun.
I used to live in the 9-mile tower right there, captain Matt still does.

Enjoy the weekend!

MK,

Hard to believe eh? Yes, 28-32 minutes from the south end of Grosse Ile.

It takes us about 45 to get to 9 mile tower.

Wow, that's really fast goosewa! We've topped out at 42 on Erie and that's when it was really calm...we're usually at 25.

This weekend's weather looks perfect! I'm looking forward to the reports on Monday :D Hopefully the weather will hold out for next weekend!

I am taking the ferry to PIB for the first time ever, always gone by boat.
I am hoping to make the last miller ferry at 7:30 but it's going to be close.
If I miss it I will have to take the jet express,,,both are running.

I am also going to try and play a round or 2 of golf on the island for the first time, although I am not going to bring a full set of clubs. I don't think it's a long course though. Maybe I will practice for the 5 iron classic later in the year!

Once again Bullette, I am going tonight 5/20, on the ferry, not Memorial day weekend, that's next weekend and I will be on the boat. If the boat goes I am on it.
