As I posted before, there is nothing you can do about the smoking ban. Many people will love it (like me and Bullette) and many people will hate it (like Captain Matt and Mister Kay). What's done is done. Like the Jimmy Buffett song says......"Breath in, breath out, move on."

You'll be singing a different tune when they outlaw something you love to do. And trust me, it'll happen someday. This whole thing sure is dollars well spent.

Unless they outlaw drinking, I don't think they will outlaw something I love to do. Or gambling in casinos or race tracks. All that stuff without addictive drugs in it, thank god. It took me years to get over my nicotine addiction. I can avoid gambling and drinking without withdrawls, but nicotine controlled me. If cigarettes weren't addictive, I don't believe many people would smoke. However, on the bright side, KY bars are going to kick ass this summer!!!!!!!!!

I smoke (when drinking). I've been to the Island twice since the ban was being enforced. It's not a big deal to go outside. In fact, I prefer it that way - I don't have to change my clothes or shower before going out drinking again the next day :)

Most places have convienent smoking areas anyway.

I have to agree with Matt on one aspect and that is our government worrying about rediculous things and not spending enough money on more of the pressing problems we have in this country!!

That being said I am soooo glad they have the smoking ban since I despise the smell of smoke and am glad I no longer have to worry about someone blowing smoke in my face

Going outside should not be that big if a deal for smokers to get some fresh air and also respect the fact that most Americans DO NOT smoke! The voters have spoken in a big way, it is not like the vote was 51%-49% it was like 65%.

That's the nice thing about PIB. Most bars are primarily outdoor bars. Although the next logical step for you nazi [banned] is to ban smoking on patios as well. It happened in Cal already.

Smoking on the Island

Postby candita4 » Thu May 10, 2007 5:03 pm

Count me in as another one who hates smoke. My nose is so good I can walk by a house in the city and tell you if there are heavy smokers in the house from the side walk outside. I fully agree you have the right to smoke if you want to. You do NOT, have the right to blow your smoke on me. Matt, you have a new baby in the house. Think about it!

You don't like smoke leave that perticular bar for greener pastures. Matt, you have a new baby in the house. Think about it!

I don't smoke in the house.

Don't give me that B.S., Don't smoke in the house because you got kids, People have done it since the beginning of time. I know you'll say "doctors have proved that second hand smoke can lead to lung cancer". Yeah and I think I heard that if you drink coffee that you'll get diabetes & If you drink gatorade your more likely to get breast cancer, and if you eat chocolate your more likey to be impotent! Give me a break! There is something new everyday, When I eat I don't really like smoke in my face, but when your out drinking at a bar thats the way it is. If they didn't change the law you would still go to the bar anyway. You didn't complain out loud until the government( who are trying to control everything we do) brought it up!

My anti smoking girlfriend brought this point up this morning.
It's convienent now when the bars are empty, but wait until the island is packed and try to get out to the patio for a smoke.
Jut more people moving all around in a busy place.
