Bartender Olympics

Postby Jagerman17 » Wed Aug 16, 2006 8:19 am

This one is directed to my buddy Mark ... 8)

This is the first year in awhile I was not able to be up there for the bartender olympics that went on yesterday (tuesday) and was wondering how they were -- entertaining I know, but to what extent? I spoke to about 8 of my close friends up there who "serve us our favorite adult beverages" and they were already going solid on the drinking when I talked to them at about 2:30 - 3:00. So I can only imagine how the night went ....

I know how it is from their perspective and I cant wait to hear the stories today when I talk to them, but it is always good to hear it from a spectators point of view. I wish like hell I was able to make it up ... :(

And anyone who has not seen them, they are GREAT!

For the first time in 11 years I actually missed the event and just got back on the island today. I have yet to hear who won but I am sure it was as crazy as ever!!

I will try to get some details and post them when I hear. Thanks!

Does anyone know anything about this? I seem to remember asking some of my friends about it, but I also seem to remember being hammered at the time and don't remember what they said. Who won? What were some of the better skits?

the Olympics are held during the week, on like a Tuesday, so they can give as many bartenders off as possible to participate. There are usually a few good skits each year and lots of people "going for the gold" that night!

Going for the Gold is almost an understatement. Bartender Olympics is certainly one of the most entertaining nights on the island...if you are lucky enough to remember beyond the first hour, as it is also one of the most "foggy" nights of the season. Second only to White Spider Night, which is by far the most "foggy soupy mess" to hit the islands, year after year.
I'm getting hung over just thinking about it....

the party held on the Island Labor Day. The story I heard was back in the day, the White Spider drink was concocted and served on Labor Day and wasn't served again until the next Labor Day and yada, yada, yada I never heard from her again.

But you yada yaded over the best part!

No, I mentioned the Bisque...

Ray Fogg has a song about it called Waves on, well, the Waves album!

White Spider has been going on forever, every Labor Day Monday, night.
All summer long at the Roundy they take the clear liquid booze left at the bottom of the bottles, they save it, mixing it all together and then serve it with a wicked smile under the name White Spider. It really is very a dangerous concoction that can result in serious memory loss if very much more than a sip is ingested into the system as well as causing uncontrollable behavior of every sort.
Really they almost should serve it with a warning label.
