Put-in-Bay Lake Erie Browns Backers assist Fire Chief

PUT-IN-BAY -- The Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers at Put-in-Bay have joined in an effort to assist the fire chief of Put-in-Bay, MoJohn Wilhelm

Wilhelm is a life long resident of Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island.

Wilhelm is ill and needs assistance with medical expenses. The Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers established an emergency fund two years ago for this purpose.

If a child, person, or family of the Lake Erie Islands needs funds for an emergency beyond their control, the funds would be made available to them.

A donation of $1,000 has been approved by the officers and membership of the club.

The Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers from Put in Bay are the Cleveland Browns Club of the Year.

They raise thousands of dollars every year for special needs on the Lake Erie Islands from their Rib Burn Off that's held on the third Saturday of June every year, and their sixteen tailgate parties that are held for every Brown's game.

Don Thwaite, the president of the Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers, presented the check to Wilhelm on behalf of the club.

If anyone would like to make a further donation for Wilhelm, send a check to the Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers, P.O. Box 773, Put-in-Bay, OH 43456.

Write Chief Wilhelm in the lower left hand corner of the check. The donation is tax deductible.

Put-in-Bay is a popular vacation spot just 2 miles offshore of mainland Northwest Ohio in Lake Erie. While "Put-in-Bay" is technically the name of the village on South Bass Island, the name commonly is inadvertently used to refer to the entire island. A summer resort since the mid-1800's, the village can be considered the hub of tourism among the Lake Erie Islands, with its numerous taverns, wineries, restaurants, waterfront condos, rental homes, and hotels.
