(2019 Event) 4 DAYS FOR 120 MIN. - 10:00 TO 12:00. Environmental Adventure Camp II for age 11-14. Last year, the first day was spent at Scheeff East Point Preserve to band birds. We banded golden finches, tree swallows, and a yellow warbler! What a great time for the kids! The second day we enjoyed a kayaking adventure from Kayak the Bay; with a pre-trip talk about safety, gear, parts of the boat, paddling, and what happens if we fall out of our kayak. The third and fourth days EAC II camped out on Middle Bass Island at the State Park. (2019 Event)
Put-in-Bay Trivia: Along the lovely shores of South Bass Island (Put-in-Bay), five luxury hotels were built by 1888. One of the hotels, The Hotel Victory is referred to as a symbol of the peak of the lavish 1890’s. Being the biggest summer resort in the U.S. at the time, the Hotel Victory was operating 27 years prior to being ruined by a fire on August 14, 1919. Today, you can still see the remains of some of the foundation and its swimming pool at the South Bass Island State Park.
