Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals, located at the end of Catawba Avenue in South Bass Island State Park, offers visitors to Put-in-Bay water rides for the entire family. Heineman's Winery / Crystal Cave xxx

Heineman's Winery, which has been making wine on the island for more than 100 years, offers tours of the winery and wine and grape juice tasting in their beautiful wine garden. Take a tour of one of Put-in-Bay's most well known historical landmarks. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry discovered Perry's Cave during the War of 1812. The underground lake in the cave provided his men with fresh drinking water. Visitors can take tours of the limestone cave, which last about 20 minutes. Bring a sweatshirt or jacket � it's about 50 degrees down there! Admission is $7.00 ($4.00 kids).

Perry Peace Memorial and Visitors Center xxx

On 10 September 1813, Master Commandant Oliver Hazard Perry won one of the biggest victories in the War of 1812. In 1912 the construction of a 352-ft. memorial in his honor began; in 1936 it became part of the National Park System and was declared a National Monument by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Visitors can take an elevator up 317 ft. to the observation deck, where they can see the Lake Erie Islands and the shores of Michigan, Ohio and Ontario. During the summer season, park rangers give talks and living history demonstrations complete with period uniforms and a firing demonstration on the memorial's plaza. Stop by the Perry Victory Visitors Center to see a 15-minute movie about the War of 1812, a large display area, three large historically accurate paintings of the battle, a statue of Perry from 1860 and a gift shop. Admission is $3.00.

Created in 1895 and located on the 6.5-acre Gibraltar Island at Put-in-Bay, Frantz Theodore Stone Laboratory is Ohio's Lake Erie laboratory. It is the nation's oldest freshwater biological field station and the Island Campus of The Ohio State University. The Laboratory offers college-level courses each summer with faculty and students coming from all over the country. Since 1990, students from 40 Ohio colleges, 27 out-of-state colleges, and 257 high schools have taken these courses for college credit. The Laboratory also provides a facility for year-round research, offers special conference facilities and speakers, and develops and offers custom-designed Aquatic Workshop programs for grades 4 through adult with over 5,000 participants annually.
